Parents arrested after baby left in hot car
Thursday July 29th, 2010
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The parents of a newborn baby were arrested after their infant was found strapped in his child seat in a hot car outside a Minneapolis pharmacy. A passer-by heard the baby's cry and called police Tuesday as outside temperatures soared to 94 degrees. Officers pulled the baby from the car and arrested the parents inside the store. Police say although the Honda Civic had partially open windows, the air inside the car was 110 degrees. Minneapolis Police Lt. Greg Reinhardt says the 6-week-old baby was alone for about 20 minutes. The infant was taken to Children's Hospital and appears to have fully recovered. The parents, from Minneapolis, were in the Hennepin County Jail on Wednesday for possible charges of child neglect.
